Before Motherhood

If you plan to have a child, it is preferable to have private insurance or semi-private. This will allow you to choose your doctor and the preferred private clinic. Please note that some health insurance policies require you to hold their insurance policy for a period of two years before your child’s birth to be eligible for maternity services at private clinics.

If you do not have either private supplemental insurance or semi-private, we offer a variety of upgrade options for a reasonable additional price. The family or relatives of the mother can also purchase these upgrades. The proportion paid by the compulsory basic insurance is billed directly by Clinique des Grangettes to the insurer.

In all cases, it is recommended to take out for the child a semi-private supplementary insurance even before his birth so that the fees of the baby’s paediatrician and bills are taken care of, and to ensure free choice of specialist.

Insurance for babies

Taking out insurance for semi-private or private health coverage for your baby is important. It will allow you free choice of doctors and ensure that medical expenses will be reimbursed.

For newborns, the fees and remuneration for doctors in private clinics correspond with private or semi-private insurance coverage for the child for him- or herself.

Usually, the complementary insurance of the mother does not cover the care for the newborn.

To make sure the child's medical care is covered, you should take out semi-private complementary insurance for the child prior to birth or as of birth.
