Orthopaedic doctors specialising in paediatrics

Paediatric orthopaedics covers the treatment of pathologies affecting the locomotor functions of children, adolescents and young adults with typical paediatric problems.

Specialised paediatric care

The specialised paediatric orthopaedic surgery takes charge of diagnoses, therapies and surgeries for a variety of conditions, either as emergencies or in long-term care: birth defects (malformations present from birth) and acquired conditions (deformities, limb length discrepancies, osteochondritis, scoliosis, flat feet, osteoarticular pain, infections, bone tumours and neurological pathologies), as well as well as traumas (fractures, sprains, wounds, lesions related to sports), and the child’s or the adolescent’s locomotor apparatus. Some pathologies correct themselves spontaneously during growth, but others do require the use of splints, casts, physiotherapy or even surgery.

Specialists work closely with the Paediatric emergency services and are reachable at all times to manage paediatric orthopaedic emergencies and further care.
